Our history

Future-orientated by tradition for over 130 years.

In 1888, Heinrich Baumann founded a haulage company in Engelskirchen. Early on, he sought proximity to the economic centres. We have continued to pursue this goal ever since. The result: consistent future orientation with steady growth.

A short journey through our history:

  • Heinrich Baumann founds the haulage business in Engelskirchen. The goods are still transported on horse-drawn carts through the Bergisches Land. However, the entrepreneur realises early on that economic progress lies in the urban centres.
  • Heinrich Baumann moves the haulage company to Bonn in 1914. In 1918, three of his sons work in the haulage business. Clay and glass are transported from the Bonn area to the Rhine harbour on horse-drawn carts. Later, the horses are replaced by tracked lorries.
  • The son Viktor Baumann takes over the company from his father. The first lorry of modern design is purchased. The vehicle fleet is constantly expanded.
  • Bonn becomes the federal capital. Construction machinery and materials are needed to build the new federal capital. A US army low loader is converted into a civilian vehicle. The heavy haulage business begins for BAUMANN.
  • The first new mobile crane is purchased: PH lattice boom crane with a lifting capacity of 20 tonnes.
  • His son Rudolf Baumann takes over the management of the company. Under his management, the company develops into one of the leading heavy haulage and crane companies in Germany.
  • The company expands. The company premises in Bonn city centre are bursting at the seams. Today, the company premises in the north of Bonn, in Bornheim-Hersel, cover an area of 70,000 square metres.
  • Establishment of the branch in Leipzig with premises covering 20,000 square metres.
  • Daughter Sabine Baumann-Duvenbeck joins the management team.
  • Rudolf Baumann hands over the management of the company to his daughter Sabine Baumann-Duvenbeck.
